One of the positives for families that came out of New Zealand’s first lockdown was cooking together. By supporting families through this challenging time with simple, healthy food preparation and cooking activities we are able to encourage this wonderful new interest.
We have put together this package of our most loved recipes. We have concentrated on easy, inexpensive and tasty recipes that suit child participation. And, most importantly, they use healthy foods classified as “everyday” under the Ministry of Health guidelines.
In this downloadable package you will receive:
· 12 A5 pdf recipes
· Recipes designed to be made with tamariki involvement
· Resources that meet the New Zealand Ministry of Health’s Nutrition Guidelines
· Each recipe uses a small range of inexpensive widely available ingredients
· Created, tested and used by hundreds of schools, Early Childhood Education Centres (ECE) throughout New Zealand
Terms of use
The special license of use for these recipes allows for one personal user who is able to use these resources in communications with all your school or ECE students’ families. We encourage you to insert them into your school newsletters, upload onto learning platforms such as Storypark or Seesaw, or print and supply to families.
These recipes are designed to give children opportunities to:
· Be adventurous and try new healthy whole foods
· Be involved in food preparation, which encourages children trying new foods and eating better
· Be a healthy food eater
· Be helpful in supporting the wellbeing of their whanau
· Be creative carrying out exciting new hands-on activities while learning from home
